Debbie's Story
Drug dealer and pimp, can God redeem? For Debbie he did. Debbie was forced to fend for herself and her children when her marriage fell apart. As time went on her life got continually worse. After two of her children died, she went into a deep depression. In anger, she dedicated her life to the devil. She worked a day job, but after work was over, her identity changed to a drug dealer and pimp. After quite a few years she decided to commit suicide. On the day she was planning to kill herself, she was arrested and spent a year in jail in which she was forced to become clean from her drugs. After her release from prison, under strict probation and with nowhere to go, she went to a homeless shelter which was right across the street from where SOUL church met in a parking lot. She began to attend, and her life was changed. Her relationship with the church grew and deepened and eventually she was hired as the secretary of the church. Despite her legal record, the church believed in her value and what she could offer to them. Today, she is able to bless others with her story, and she is glad to now represent her King Jesus Christ. She has been transformed from a hatred for God to a deep-rooted commitment to him. Although her story is dark and heavy, the love, grace, and redemption of Jesus shine through. Debbie is proof that there is hope for people who may seem beyond reach. God is faithful and we should never underestimate his power to redeem lives that have been touched by sin.
